Your Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (PTSO) Leadership Team is already looking ahead to next year. We are thinking about what we want to accomplish, and we are actively recruiting for positions to be filled by our current and incoming families. Taking on a role in the PTSO Leadership team is a great way to get to know other parents and program staff better. We have representation from our administration and teaching staff present to discuss their needs, their accomplishments and updates of what is happening in the classroom and with the program. If you are a parent who likes to be “in the know,” please consider taking on a role in the PTSO Leadership. If you have ideas of how we can do things differently, we need you on the leadership team to help direct that change.
Here are the current positions with their position descriptions for you to consider:
Treasurer Elect: Assists treasurer in duties throughout the year, attends PTSO meetings, participates in PTSO board voting, serves as shadow for future treasurer.
Secretary: Attends all PTSO-related meetings to record attendance and minutes, provides electronic documentation of the meeting minutes to the communications chair within 2 weeks of meeting dates, to be stored on PTSO website, emails minutes to PTSO leadership team for review and approval at the start of each meeting, assists in PTSO projects as needed, participates in PTSO board voting, manages PTSO google calendar.
Program Marketing Coordinator: Works with staff and communications chair to draft marketing materials including brochures/flyers, Open House materials, School Options Fair materials, training guides for parent volunteers; manages Open House events (2 times annually); works with merchandise coordinator on merchandise design; works closely with Elementary Liaison Chair for appropriate topics to include in their submissions.
Shadowing and Volunteer Coordinator: Works with staff to coordinate the Wednesday walk-throughs and Upper El Classroom Shadowing experiences that allow visitors to see the classrooms in action, assists PTSO and staff to find needed volunteers for program or PTSO events.
Fundraising Coordinator: Works with project leads to manage fundraising efforts for the PTSO. Fundraising areas include: Boxtops, store links, Invest in Secondary Montessori, Merchandise, restaurant nights (coordinate with social committee). Works with treasurer to ensure proper receipts/disbursements tracking and cash management, assists in Micro-economies projects (i.e. Kid’s Camp).
