Treasurer Elect position

The PTSO is currently seeking a Treasurer-Elect for the 2017-18 school year. This person would work with our Treasurer this year and serve as PTSO Treasurer in 2018-19. Not only does starting now give the Treasurer-Elect training on what the Treasurer role involves, having a Treasurer-Elect now is critical to maintaining continuity in our book-keeping. Please consider taking on this important role!  Contact PTSO President, Alexandra Hischen-Dombroski or PTSO Treasurer, Tracie Schoenwald for more info.

 Spirit Gear

Second chance for Spirit Gear! Order by Friday, March 23rd.   There are a few new items (ladies & men’s polo shirts) plus all of the tees, sweatshirts & jackets already available.  Ms Donna has samples of the ½ zip pullover and full zip jacket in the office. Don’t hesitate to ask to see these items.

 Agriculture Update

Williams Montessori now has 3 chicks and a bunny, Baron. We will be buying at least 5 more chicks in the next few weeks. Watching them hatch was great fun and we dissected the remaining eggs to determine their stage of development this week.

We had a guest speaker from Charlotte Mecklenburg soil and water conservation.

We also hosted UMAR Arts in the greenhouse and shared how to seed a flat. They are planning to come back and teach us something in the near future.

 Band Concert

The first WM Band Concert was held last Thursday night in the Gym. Led by band director, Mr. Tyler Curbeam, the middle school and high school bands made beautiful music to a large audience of family and friends. Congratulations to all the performers and to Mr. Tyler for a successful evening of entertainment!

 Robotics and Technology Club

Our Coding Cohort led by Ms. Monica is taking a deep dive into the following coding languages in our upcoming March meeting:  Python, Java, Javascript, Swift, C++, Objective C, and HTML. In our last meeting, students selected these languages, self-organized into small groups, and created a collaborative document to share links to tutorials, findings, and terminology/definition lists.

Our Robotics Cohort led by Mr. Doug  is actually building a 3D printer using a borrowed 3D printer. Students organized in this club will learn the basics behind robotics while getting hands-on experience with 3D printing. Stay tuned for more updates!

Please contact Ms. Monica or Mr. Doug if you have any questions.
