Spring Intersession Overview
In addition to traditional academic studies, each Williams student is required to participate in eight two-week intensive field study courses during their high school years. Each “Intersession” course includes vigorous academic requirements paired with hands-on learning experiences, often including overnight travel and/or community service. In the Fall, students participate in grade level/theme-based intersessions. Spring Intersessions vary by year and are offered based on student choice as well as instructor preference. Students receive 0.5 credits for each Intersession, and passing all eight are required in order to receive a diploma. The current Spring Intersession courses that students are participating in are:
All rising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students also recently participated in a survey for Spring Intersession options for next year!
Scratch Cooking: Spring Intersession
Intersession wrapped up on Friday with an amazing culminating lunch in Uptown Charlotte and decorating sugar cookies. The students reviewed each “how to” videos and reflected on the two week Intersession together as a group!
Sports: Spring Intersession
The sports intersession wrapped up their 2 week study on Friday the 20th downtown with a tour of the Panther’s Stadium. During their study of sports, the kids played and learned about traditional American sports while they considered “what makes a sport” and reviewed more non-traditional sports. The kids made Sports Intersession a big success (and had some fun too!).
